Sphera Element is homogeneous vinyl flooring made by Forbo in the Netherlands. Homogeneous means the material is uniform through its full thickness: there is no separate decorative layer — the colour runs all the way through.
In ordinary vinyl the pattern is printed on a thin film beneath a wear layer. Once that wear layer is gone, so is the pattern. In homogeneous flooring abrasion changes nothing — after ten years the surface looks the same, because underneath is the same material.
The second consequence is that the floor can be renewed by sanding. Deeper scratches can be sanded out and the surface restored, which is impossible with a printed decorative layer.
Format — rolls 2 000 mm wide, up to 25 m long, 50 m² per roll. The width is chosen so that a typical corridor or ward can be laid without longitudinal seams.
Thickness 2 mm, abrasion class 34 — the highest class for commercial interiors. Glue-down installation. Suitable for underfloor heating with a subfloor temperature up to +27 °C. Manufacturer warranty 12 years. Lead time 14 days.
Homogeneous vinyl is the standard answer wherever hygiene matters and the floor is washed daily: healthcare, laboratories, schools and nurseries, commercial kitchens.
Seams are hot-welded, so the finished floor becomes one continuous impervious surface — neither water nor dirt gets beneath it. Combined with a coved skirting the floor can be washed with water without restriction.
Sphera Element is the solid, neutral part of the range, with no pattern. That is the key difference from the other Sphera families: here the colour works as a background rather than as a decor.

Technically yes, in practice rarely. Homogeneous vinyl offers no wood or stone look, and class 34 is excessive for a flat. For homes SPC or flexible vinyl is the more rational choice.
In commercial projects, yes. Welding turns the floor into a continuous surface and is required wherever hygiene standards apply. Unwelded seams let moisture through to the subfloor.
Level, dry and skim-coated. Homogeneous flooring is thin and follows every irregularity beneath it — 2 mm hides nothing.
