Stair nosings for wood flooring

A stair nosing covers the edge of the tread, protects it from chipping and lets you finish the stairs with the same boards as the floor. Openini supplies BOEN oak stair nosings for two floor thicknesses – 13.2–14 mm boards and Prestige 10 mm floors – in Live Matt or Live Pure lacquer or Live Natural oil.

Which nosing to choose?

Profiles A and B come with or without a bevel. There are 2 nosings per box and the price is per piece. For example, a staircase with 14 treads up to 1.1 m wide needs 7 profile A or B nosings of 2.2 m (4 boxes); wider treads need one nosing each. Why BOEN nosings

BOEN nosings are made with the Origami Tech method: the board is folded twice at the edge instead of being broken, so the edge is gently rounded with a subtle bevel and the protective surface stays intact. The timber and finish are the same as the floor, so the stairs and the floor read as one surface.

• in any BOEN colour and finish (profiles A and B);
• from 3-strip, Plank Castle or Chalet / Chaletino boards;
• for other tread and riser sizes, with tongue and groove;
• with a 10 mm rubber anti-slip insert (black, grey, brown, beige);
• matching edge bands for open stairs (3.5 × 700 mm, up to 100 mm high).

Frequently asked questions

Which nosing fits my floor?

It depends on board thickness. BOEN 13.2 and 14 mm floors take profile A (click joint at the bottom) or the narrower profile B; BOEN Prestige 10 mm floors take the Prestige nosing (1150 mm).

How many nosings do I need?

One nosing per tread. A 2200 mm nosing covers a tread up to 2.2 m wide; the Prestige nosing is 1150 mm long. There are 2 pieces per box and the price is per piece.

Will the nosing match my floor?

Yes. Nosings are made from the same oak in Live Matt or Live Pure lacquer or Live Natural oil, so they match the colour and finish of BOEN floors.

Can I order another colour or an anti-slip insert?

Yes. To order, BOEN makes nosings in any BOEN colour and finish, from 3-strip, Plank Castle or Chalet boards, with tongue and groove, and with a 10 mm rubber anti-slip insert.
