Parquet lacquer

Openini supplies water-based parquet lacquers and primers from the German manufacturer LOBA – from finishes for residential floors to lacquers for shops and sports halls. LOBA belongs to the same Loba-Wakol group as the parquet adhesive maker WAKOL.

How to choose a parquet lacquer

Lacquers come in 1 kg (1 L) and 5 kg (5 L) packs and in several sheens: extra-matt, satin, semi-gloss and gloss.

Two-component (2K) or one-component (1K)? A 2K lacquer is mixed with a hardener and resists scratches and chemicals better – choose it for hallways, kitchens, offices and shops. A 1K lacquer is easier to apply and suits living areas.

The system: primer plus two coats

Prime the sanded floor with LOBA EasyPrime (8–10 m² per litre), then apply two coats of lacquer at 100–120 g/m² each. Example: a 30 m² floor needs about 3–4 L of primer and 6–7.2 kg of lacquer.

Drying times

You can sand and recoat after about 4 hours, walk carefully after 24 hours, and put back furniture and rugs once the lacquer has fully cured, after 5 days.

Lacquer or oil?

Frequently asked questions

Which parquet lacquer is the most durable?

In the LOBA range the most durable are the two-component lacquers: ceramic-reinforced 2K Supra A.T. and 2K Duo. Both comply with ÖNORM C 2354 and DIN 18032 (sports halls).

How much lacquer do I need per m²?

One coat takes 100–120 g/m². The usual system is a primer plus two coats of lacquer, so allow about 0.2–0.24 kg of lacquer per m².

Do I need to prime parquet before lacquering?

For most LOBA lacquers we recommend LOBA EasyPrime: it reduces the risk of side bonding between boards and evens out the tone. 2K InvisibleProtect needs no primer.

How soon can I walk on a lacquered floor?

You can walk carefully after 24 hours; full loading and rugs after 5 days.

What is the difference between matt and gloss parquet lacquer?

Sheen is about appearance: matt lacquer reflects less light and shows fewer scratches, gloss looks brighter. Durability depends on the type of lacquer, not on the sheen.
