Parquet oil and hardwax oil

An oiled floor keeps the natural colour of the wood and a warm, pleasant surface. Openini supplies parquet oils for new or freshly sanded floors (LOBA) and maintenance oils for floors that are already oiled (LOBA, BOEN).

Oil for new or sanded parquet

• LOBA 2K ImpactOil – solvent-free two-component oil applied in a single coat (30–60 g/m²). Water-resistant, so it also suits kitchens and hallways.
• LOBA HardwaxOil – hardwax oil applied in two coats; satin, extra-matt or semi-gloss.
• LOBA HardwaxOil Nature – keeps the light tone of untreated wood and stops oak from yellowing.
• LOBA 2K ImpactOil Color – coloured oil (white, grey and 15 more colours to order) that tints and protects parquet in one system.

Pack sizes from 100 ml test packs to 0.75 L, 2.5 L and 10 L. Use a test pack to try the oil on your own wood before buying the full quantity.

Oil for maintaining oiled floors

• BOEN Natural Oil and BOEN Freshen Up – for BOEN boards with the Live Natural oil finish. You will find them in Cleaning and care.
• LOBA ParkettOil – maintenance oil for oiled floors, 10–30 ml/m².

Clean oiled floors with a wood soap (LOBA ParkettSoap or BOEN Floor Soap) and re-oil once the surface looks dull and greyish – in homes usually every 1–2 years, more often in busy areas.

How much oil do you need

Example: a 30 m² floor finished with HardwaxOil by roller in two coats needs about 3 L of oil.

Oil or lacquer?

Frequently asked questions

Which oil is best for parquet?

It depends on the room. For kitchens and hallways we recommend LOBA 2K ImpactOil – a single water-resistant coat. For living areas LOBA HardwaxOil works well, and for light natural oak, HardwaxOil Nature.

How much oil do I need per m²?

LOBA 2K ImpactOil: 30–60 g/m² in a single coat. LOBA HardwaxOil: 40–60 ml/m² per coat by roller, applied in two coats.

How often should parquet be re-oiled?

Re-oil when the surface looks dull and greyish – in homes usually every 1–2 years, more often in busy areas.

How soon can I walk on an oiled floor?

After 12 hours with LOBA 2K ImpactOil and after 8 hours with HardwaxOil. The oil fully cures in 5–10 days, so wait that long before laying rugs.

Can an oiled floor be lacquered later?

Not without preparation: oil penetrates the wood and prevents lacquer from bonding. The floor is usually sanded back to bare wood. Ask us about your specific floor.
