Chevron, or French herringbone, differs from ordinary herringbone in how the board ends are cut. In classic herringbone the boards are rectangular and meet at 90°; in Chevron the ends are cut at 60°, so the boards join into a continuous point.
The result is a floor with a clear direction. The Chevron pattern visually lengthens a room along the axis the points face, which is why it works well in narrow corridors and long living rooms.
Construction and technical data
Format 14 × 138 × 611 mm at a 60° angle. Three-layer build with a 3,5 mm oak wear layer — the same as in the straight Plank boards, so the floor can be sanded at least twice.
4V bevel on all sides. In a Chevron layout this matters more than in straight boards: without the bevel the points would merge into a flat plane and the pattern would disappear.
The finish is Live Natural oil. It can be refreshed in place, which is practical for a patterned floor — sanding the whole area is more demanding here than with straight boards.
Important: A and B planks are bought in pairs
Chevron is supplied as two plank types: A with a left-hand cut, B with a right-hand cut, in a strict 1:1 ratio. One plank without the other is useless — the pattern cannot be assembled.
In the catalogue each decor is currently shown as two separate products, one per plank type. An order needs both article numbers. In the table below the pairs are aligned: the left column is the A plank, the right column its counterpart.

Installation
Installation is glue-down only. A level, dry subfloor and an experienced fitter are essential: angular error in a Chevron accumulates across the area and shows as a visible drift at the far wall.
Before starting, the axis of the pattern is set relative to the room — that decides whether the points read symmetrically at doors and windows. Allow 12–15 % waste, more than for straight boards, because every plank at the perimeter is cut at an angle.
Suitable for underfloor heating: subfloor up to 29 °C, room 18–21 °C, relative humidity 30–65 %.

Frequently asked questions
Why does one decor need two article numbers?
A Chevron plank is cut at an angle and therefore has a direction. The A and B planks are mirror images of each other. The pattern is assembled by alternating them, so equal quantities of both are required.

How much material should I order?
12–15 % over the floor area. Chevron generates more offcuts than any other format, because every plank at the perimeter is cut at an angle and the remainder rarely fits anywhere else.
Can it be installed floating?
