BOEN Prestige — small-format oak flooring

Prestige is BOEN's smallest format: 10 × 70 × 470 mm. It is essentially a contemporary take on classic parquet — a small element from which any pattern can be composed.

The format allows free laying geometry: herringbone, squares, deck pattern, diagonal, or simply random. This is where Prestige differs from long boards, which effectively offer one layout.

A small element also behaves better in compact rooms: a 2200 mm board in a small space often reads as oversized and visually narrows it.

At 10 mm it barely raises the floor level and conducts heat well — suited to renovation and to underfloor heating.

Construction and technical data

Prestige is a two-layer engineered board: a 3,5 mm oak (or other species) wear layer over a 6,5 mm spruce base. Total thickness 10 mm.

The wear layer is as thick as in the 14 mm Plank formats, so refinishing potential is identical: the floor can be sanded at least twice. Only the core differs, and the core has no bearing on service life.

There are no bevels — the boards lay flush, so the finished area reads as one continuous surface rather than a grid of grooves.

Finishes

Live Natural oil penetrates the timber, brings out the grain, and can be refreshed in place — a scuffed area is repaired without sanding the whole floor.

Live Matt lacquer forms a protective film, resists daily wear better and needs no periodic oiling. The more rational choice for rental property and homes with pets.

Installation

Prestige is glued down to the subfloor. Floating installation does not apply to this format — the element is too small to hold itself.

Subfloor requirements: level, dry, free of cracks. Over underfloor heating — subfloor temperature no higher than 29 °C, room temperature 18–21 °C, relative humidity 30–65 %.

Frequently asked questions

Can BOEN Prestige be sanded?

Yes. The wear layer is 3,5 mm of oak, the same as in the thicker BOEN formats. The floor can be sanded at least twice, giving a practical service life of 40–50 years.

Is Prestige suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, and better than thicker formats. A 10 mm section restricts heat transfer less. Conditions: subfloor up to 29 °C, room 18–21 °C, relative humidity 30–65 %.

Which patterns can be laid with Prestige?

Herringbone, double herringbone, squares (Hungarian point), deck pattern, diagonal, random. A 70 × 470 mm element does not impose a direction, so the pattern is chosen by the designer rather than dictated by the format.

How does Prestige differ from Longstrip?

Longstrip is a 215 mm three-strip board that imitates fine parquet within one large element. Prestige consists of genuinely separate elements from which the pattern is actually assembled. Longstrip installs faster and costs less; Prestige gives real parquet geometry.

Can Prestige be installed floating?
