BOEN Gent — the same floor at a lower price

Gent is not a separate collection — it is a different grading of the same product. Same BOEN factory, same 3,5 mm oak wear layer, same construction, same finishes, same locking system. What differs is timber selection and pack size.

The price gap runs from 16 % to 33 %. Oak Andante Gent, for example, sits at roughly €58/m² against about €79/m² for its direct standard equivalent — a 26 % difference with no compromise on wear layer thickness.

Where the difference shows: Gent boards carry more knots and stronger colour variation, with a looser timber selection. In a restrained, minimal interior that is noticeable; in a natural, lively one it usually is not — and for some projects it is exactly what is wanted.

Where there is no difference at all: thickness, wear layer, refinishing potential, warranty, suitability for underfloor heating. Technically it is the same floor.

Identical: the factory, the construction, the 3,5 mm oak wear layer, the finish types, the 5G Click locking, the warranty, suitability for underfloor heating, refinishing potential. Technically it is the same floor.

Different: timber selection and pack size. Gent boards carry more knots and stronger colour variation, with a looser grading. Pack size is 3,04 m².

Formats and the price gap

Gent is supplied in four formats: 14 × 138, 13,2 × 181, 13,2 × 209 and 14 × 209 mm — the same formats as the standard Plank collections.

Where Gent fits, and where it does not

Fits: natural, characterful interiors; rental property where price and durability matter; large areas, where a 20 % difference becomes a significant sum; projects where a rustic figure is a deliberate choice.

Does not fit: restrained minimal interiors where the floor must read as uniform; small areas, where the saving is modest but the visual difference is still noticeable.

Installation

5G Click locking: floating over underlay, or glued down to the subfloor. For the 209 mm formats we recommend glueing. Over underfloor heating — subfloor up to 29 °C, room 18–21 °C, relative humidity 30–65 %.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gent a second-grade product?

No. It is a different grading, not a different quality. Grading describes the appearance of the timber — how many knots and how even the colour — not manufacturing defects. Defective material does not reach the market at all.

Can I see the difference before buying?

Yes. Our Vilnius showroom holds samples of both Gent and the standard grading. The difference is best judged in person; photographs convey it poorly.

Is the warranty the same?

Yes. The manufacturer’s warranty does not depend on the grading.

Can Gent be combined with the standard grading?

Within one continuous area we would advise against it — the difference will show. Across separate rooms it is entirely normal, and a common solution: standard grading in the living room, Gent in bedrooms and utility spaces.
